GARMIN Compact Reactor™ 40 Hydraulic Autopilot with GHC™ 20 Corepack
Perfect basic autopilot system
Includes Compact Reactor 40 starter pack and GHC 20 autopilot control unit
Recommended for single outboard boats under 9 meters (30 feet)1
9-axis solid-state AHRS heading system
Minimizes heading errors, course deviation, rudder movement, and power consumption while ensuring a comfortable ride
Quick setup and calibration
The Compact Reactor 40 hydraulic control, designed for boats under 9 meters (30 feet), frees you from holding the wheel to maintain direction at moderate or high speeds1. Focus on enjoying your time on the water – 9-axis solid-state AHRS technology ensures a pleasant driving experience.
Three different core packages are available for the autopilot system, allowing you to choose features based on needs and price. Purchase the starter pack (requires compatible chartplotter2) and add the GHC™ 20 autopilot control unit or both GHC 20 and Shadow Drive™.
The autopilot is easy to install, flexible, and quick to use. Choose a core package and patented Shadow Drive to take control. Hold course to re-enable the autopilot. It integrates with compatible Garmin devices to control the autopilot on the chartplotter screen. Additionally, it can be configured to follow auto guidance routes3 (requires BlueChart® g3).
9-axis Solid-state AHRS
With advanced 9-axis solid-state AHRS technology, the Compact Reactor 40 is flexible during installation. Additionally, the new system significantly reduces heading errors, course deviations, rudder movement, and power consumption while ensuring a comfortable ride for all passengers.
Responds to Conditions
This incredible autopilot maintains course while responding to sea conditions. Even when the boat rocks, you can be confident that Reactor 40 will keep you on your desired course.
Quick Setup and Calibration
All autopilot units require configuration and calibration. We know you want to get started soon, so we’ve ensured this process is as quick and simple as possible. That’s what The Power of Simple means.
Complete Integration with Garmin Devices
With compatible network devices, you can control the Compact Reactor 40 anywhere on the boat. The system maintains course in virtually all weather and wind conditions. Additionally, it can conveniently perform various pre-programmed trolling and search functions. Optional BlueChart g3 Vision Maps (sold separately) offer the industry’s most comprehensive, clearer, and detailed updated coastal charts with both Garmin and Navionics® content.
Maintain Control with Shadow Drive Technology
The Compact Reactor 40 autopilot supports optional patented Shadow Drive technology. This ensures complete control even when the autopilot is engaged. The Shadow Drive system automatically disengages the autopilot when turning the wheel, allowing you to freely control the boat. The automatic steering reactivates automatically when you maintain a steady heading.
Connecting with Network Devices
The Compact Reactor 40 can be controlled directly on a compatible Garmin chartplotter screen1 or with up to three GHC control units. The GHC communicates with the autopilot using the NMEA 2000® network, allowing autopilot heading information to be transmitted to other devices. This enables MARPA tracking and chart overlay when connected to Garmin radar and chartplotter. An optional wireless remote control is also available.
1 Not recommended for fishing or applications requiring thrust or low-speed trolling. We recommend our more powerful Reactor 40 models for both applications requiring thrust while trolling and at low speeds.
2 Requires echoMAP™ CHIRP 5x/7x/9x chartplotter/sonar combo, ECHOMAP Plus 6x/7x/9x chartplotter/sonar combo, GPSMAP® chartplotter series 7200/7400/7600/8000/8200/8400/8600 or GPSMAP chartplotter/sonar combo series 7×2/9×2/10×2/12×2
