It transmits your vessel data to other AIS receivers in the area while simultaneously receiving AIS targets. Thanks to the Garmin AIS 800’s internal VHF antenna splitter, VHF and AIS can use the same antenna. It has an internal GPS receiver (with interface for optional external antenna) and can be seamlessly integrated into your boat’s Garmin system. The transceiver easily integrates into compatible chartplotters and multifunction displays via NMEA 0183/2000®. All this fits into an easily installable compact Blackbox device.
